The clinical advantage

I have another advantage - I'm a Clinical Sports Psychologist. This means that I've had an additional three years of full-time training in Clinical Psychology to assess, identify what the difficulty really is, and help people with a range of psychological difficulties (e.g., stress, anxiety, low-mood, addictive behaviours, low-self esteem, problems with eating...). Not everyone has one of these difficulties, but I bring my interview skills and greater expertise to every consultation.

Examples of the wider range of difficulties I can work with include working with an athlete who has:

  • Has become overly stressed or anxious about their performance
  • Become depressed following injury
  • Developed unhealthy eating patterns
  • Started over-exercising or become addicted to exercise

You can view it as my bringing a broader and deeper range of psychological ‘tools’ at my disposal to my consultations.

Few of sports psychologists have received this additional specialist training. This training equips me to work across the lifespan - with children through to the older person.

Also, I am a Chartered Psychologist. For information on the benefits of consulting a Chartered Psychologist click here.
